"Rise Against - Dancing For Rain" Music Video concept

The video starts out slow. It focuses on a chandelier in the room, then pans down to two men. One is an anthropomorphic feline with white fur and brown hair, bright blue eyes. The other is an anthropomorphic wolf with blue fur, white markings underneath. A white crescent moon adorns his forehead. The two are both wearing tuxedoes, the feline wearing a white one, the wolf wearing a black one. The two are dancing slowly, holding each other close. They are lovers. The camera cuts to the ring on Leon's finger. Suddenly, the music turns from a soft guitar intro to a fast-paced, hard-rock song. Sahoni, the wolf, pushes Leon, the feline, away. Leon looks shocked, tears forming in his eyes as he struggles to find out what's wrong. Suddenly, Sahoni vomits up a bit of blood, then collapses, falling to the floor. All this happens in an instant, showing a quick cut of Leon on the phone.

Cut to Sahoni's POV, his eyes opening, vision blurry, he sees a heart-rate monitor. The view changes to the hospital room, an elevated view, looking down on Sahoni, Leon by his side holding his hand. Leon drops to his knees, his hands on Sahoni's chest, clasped together in prayer. The doctor comes in, a mouse with thick, Coke-bottle glasses and a white lab coat.

Cut to a solid black screen with red triangular eyes. It is actually the face of a creature like a demon, as can be seen once the camera zooms out. It moves like a kind of black, sinewy liquid, like a form of concentrated, inky darkness with a mind of its own, but no real form. It changes nearly constantly. It is the disease Sahoni is afflicted with. The background is a black, cloudy mess with a purple sky all around him, yet his form seems to glisten off an unseen light source.

The camera cuts to his (its?) back, thin, scythe-like spines rising and sinking from his form. The camera starts from slightly off-center, then circles him, revealing Sahoni, or rather, a representation of him. He is wearing simple jeans and a t-shirt. A katana is at his side in a black sheath, but he doesn't use it until he has to. He punches at the black apparition, which seems to break, but quickly constricts around his hand. Its long, spindly arms punch at him, beating him left and right. Sahoni is quickly losing his fight for life. The black figure reveals his clawed hands, and the fight continues.

Cut to a needle being injected into Sahoni, drawing out blood. Leon looks a bit squeamish as he sees the needle pierce Sahoni's skin, but still holds tight to Sahoni's paw. This scene is overlaid near the end with vials rapidly going through a centrifuge, then the doctor telling Leon the news, causing him to drop to his knees.
The music turns into a guitar solo, slow, like the intro.

We are treated to a few quick flashes from Leon's memories with Sahoni: the day they met, their first kiss, then finally, a quick flash of the two in the bedroom, naked under the blankets, Sahoni laying on top of Leon, asleep, as Leon smiles up at him. The scene transposes into the present as we focus on Leon and the music changes back to the rock-anthem. He is no longer smiling, but holds fast to Sahoni, dedicated to him. He speaks with the doctor and the two seem to argue. Leon shouts something, tears falling from his eyes, fist clenched.

Cut to a scene of a heart-rate monitor, beating regularly, slowing tempo, then flat-lining. The camera turns 90° and transposes on Leon's chest, a scalpel sliding down his left side, matching the flat-line from the previous shot. Cut to the doctor taking Leon's heart from his chest, then to Sahoni being stitched up, the doctor crossing himself, silently praying the transplant will be enough to save him.

Cut to Sahoni's mind, his body being ruthlessly beaten by the disease. He is broken and beaten, breathing heavily. Suddenly, a bright light appears, forming a humanoid shape, but it has cat ears, and a tail. Leon appears, carrying a katana and wielding it with a fierce hatred for the black figure. He is injured slightly, falls during the fight, but then gets back up and quickly begins working with Sahoni to destroy the disease, eventually eradicating it.

As the music fades, we cut to Sahoni's face, his eyes opening quickly, throwing off the sheets on his hospital bed, then to the scar on his chest. A small origami crane lies on his bedside table, with Leon's wedding ring next to it. A note underneath the crane reads:

Sahoni,
You saved my life, now it's my turn. I always told you you owned my heart, and that I would die for you, and I meant it. I love you, Sahoni. Don't feel bad about the dance, we'll have time for that when we meet again. Think of me during those quiet nights when you hear your heart beating. A part of me will always be with you.
Yours always,
Leon

As the music stops, we cut to a shot of Sahoni's mind, the background a pure white. Sahoni and Leon's spirits are holding each other close as they resume their dance together, wearing the dressy clothes from earlier. The song ends on a close-up of the two dancing together.
A script for Dancing For Rain by Rise Against. My first attempt at writing any kind of script. Ironic though, since a friend suggested I should write song lyrics after he heard the video's story, but before I told him it was a music video.
